Discussions with Scholar-in-Residence Dr. Federica Francesconi

Dr. Francesconi is the first scholar to hold the Howard Berger-Ray Neilsen Chair in Judaic Studies at the College of Idaho. Professor Francesconi specializes in the cultural and social history of Jews in early modern Europe, with a special expertise in Italian Jewish culture.

On Friday 2/20 at 6:00pm, she will be speaking on "Sanctifying the Name of God: Jewish Responses to Christian Violence During the Crusades."

On Saturday 2/21 at 10:30am, she will be speaking on "Acculturation and its Discontents: The Italian Jewish Experience Between Integration and Exclusion."

The Howard Berger-Ray Neilsen Chair in Judaic Studies is the first of its kind in the Mountain West. It was created to promote a greater understanding of Jewish traditions, culture, and philosophy in Idaho and the West.
