Shabbat Service with Stephanie Streja Honoring Jim Watkinson

  • St. Thomas Episcopal Church 201 Sun Valley Road Ketchum, ID, 83340 United States (map)

Our own Stephanie Streja is returning to the Wood River Valley for two Shabbats!

Stephanie has a long association with the WRJC, given that her grandparents are Dick and Sara Jean Cardozo, long time residents of Sun Valley and founding members of the WRJC. She has been a visitor to the valley many, many times and the WRJC has often benefitted from those visits. She has led many wonderful Shabbat services and performed at any number of life cycle events. Her singing and her spiritual presence on the bimah are exceptional.

Stephanie presently lives in Thousand Oaks, California where she is director of the Adat Elohim Chorale at Temple Adat Elohim. She also is a private voice teacher at Voce Dolce Studio. Additionally Stephanie is the Opera and Chorale department head of the Summer Music Institute for the Sun Valley Summer Symphony. Stephanie had been the Cantor in Residence for the WRJC from 2009 through 2014. We are so delighted to have her back with us this summer.

At this service we will also be recognizing our own Jim Watkinson and his tenure as music director at the WRJC.

Jim recently retired from this position and has moved to Boise. Jim has long been an indispensable part of our community, lending the beauty and grace of his musical accompaniment to our regular Shabbat services and to all our special events. We all owe him a tremendous debt of grati- tude for his many years of faithful service to our community. We want to show our appreciation for him at this special service and know that many of you will want to be there to wish him well.
