Message from our President

As part of the Wood River Jewish Community, your yearly membership dues and donations are the backbone of our community’s success and we are grateful for your ongoing commitment. Your dues and other financial support are crucial to our ability to deliver year-round programming, weekly and holiday services, and youth and adult educational activities that serve our entire community.

Thanks to you, 2023-24 has been a robust year with a congregation that has grown to over 225 families. With the arrival of Rabbi Sam Klein, we are set to continue this growth. Rabbi Klein already is enthusiastically taking on many roles at the WRJC or, as one might say, the many kippahs of a Rabbi.

This year we have also been blessed with the institution of a formal educator, Rabbi Dana Berntson, who has stepped forward to work with Rabbi Klein in the role of Religious Education Program Director. She will continue to lead the youth religious school and B'nai Mitzvah training. Our Sunday School has blossomed from just a few students pre-pandemic, to nearly 40 today.  And we are excited to announce that we are building post-B'Nai Mitzvah experiences for all our children as they grow into young adulthood.

As we shared previously in two May and early June weekly newsletters, we are increasing our annual dues for the first time in more than 10 years for all the segments that constitute our community.  See the box to the right.

The WRJC is committed to the principle that we will serve our entire community regardless of ability to pay dues.  If for any reason dues are a hardship, the WRJC will be flexible and work with you.  Do not hesitate to communicate with us by emailing wrjc@wrjc.org.

Additionally, this past year a number of members have discussed being able to pay dues at a level which more closely reflects WRJC’s actual costs.  In response, we have instituted a range of dues levels that recognize such generosity.  See the box to the right.

Please be aware that if you choose to pay by credit card, there is a 3% processing fee to cover our costs.

On behalf of the WRJC Board of Directors and our Administrative Director, Eryn Alvey, we extend our deepest gratitude for your continued membership and participation in our Jewish community.

Warmly,

Jeff Rose

President
