Rabbi Sam Klein
Rabbi Sam Klein recently joined the Wood River Jewish Community in the summer of 2024. His rabbinic work interweaves his love of Jewish tradition and Israel with his passion for the outdoors. Anyone in our community seeking Jewish connection, pastoral care, or simply good conversation will find his door open to them. Please reach out to schedule an office visit or meeting over coffee. As we are in Sun Valley, a hike or bike ride meeting are also possible!
Rabbi Sam Klein previously served as a rabbi and educator of Temple Israel in Columbus, Ohio; during his tenure there, the religious school doubled in size to 200 students. After growing up in Champaign, Illinois, he studied abroad in Japan, Spain, and Israel. He received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and his master’s degree and rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. Before becoming a rabbi, he worked in the hospitality industry in real estate and finance. While applying to rabbinical school, he guided kayak trips on the Colorado River.
He and his wife Elana enjoy skiing as well as hiking with their wonderful dog, Moshi.
